Phil D read for Computational and Applied Mathematics at Wits university South Africa, Music Supervision with Berklee College of Music and currently studies for a Masters in Human Resource Management.
Phil D entered the South African Idols competition in 2012 and 2013 where he made it to top 34 and top 16 in the country consecutively.
Riding on the success of Idols, Phil D became a household name for Corporate Events and weddings in South Africa and neighbouring countries, becoming a resident singer at Signature Restaurant (an upmarket fine-dining restaurant in the affluent suburb of Sandton- Johannesburg) and the lead vocalist in renowned event bands bands like Blu Bamboo and Triple Play.
In 2015 , while based in Hong Kong, he released his debut single COLORS. COLORS was well received, as witnessed by the great turnouts at his launch in Johannesburg, and the reputable airplay it received.

Phil's fanbase now expands beyond South Africa, with listeners from as far as China, Australia, America, France, Germany, Korea, Togo, Philippines, Nigeria, The USA and Brazil commending him for his great work so far.
Phil D has since released his second single in memory of his late mother, a deep cutting song. The song was recorded and produced in South Africa, by the skilful Kunle Ayo who produced the late Bra Hugh Masekela’s latest album, No Borders.
While out in Hong Kong, Phil started a duo with producer and friend Stephane (DJ Fudge) called Pulse (@pulseduo on Instagram and Facebook), creating deep house songs like I'll Be Alright, Willing To Go and Central during 2018.
Phil D has since released his EP called Tired, an album called 20-What and two other EPs called Lost Files and Good Vibrations which you can listen to on any music platform, with one music video in particular – I Don’t Wanna Think Too Much available on youtube.
